![]() The cleats are some kind of Masonite and I redrilled mine to move the baffle retaining screws inward as some were very close to the edge of the baffle, which is a mdf material and sort of crumbly. Some PFs have a cleat across the bottom to attach the baffle, which will also need trimming away, but mine only had side and top cleats. The hole ends up being flat on the top so you can stay below the gold front trim strip. I cut mine from the back side using a jig saw. The Marshall on its best setting cannot come close to the Pathfinder on its worst setting. They are full, rich, warm, responsive, and are very tube-like. The cleans are, by far, the best I have ever heard from a SS amp. These speakers are, in my opinion, and testing, the best speakers for a Vox AC15 guitar amplifier. I currently own both a Marshall Class 5 and a VOX Pathfinder 15R and I can tell you that the Pathfinders are sensational amps. I will cover the pros and cons of each of these choices and why you may consider one over the other. You will have to remove a lot of staples so you can flip the bottom of the cloth out of the way. The first three speakers will be great for classic Vox AC15 tones, and the last two will be for something a bit different. The Pathfinder 15 produces 15 watts of power that drives a specially voiced 8-inch Vox Bulldog speaker. The Pathfinder features spring reverb and ample tonal control for great sound. The original discussion spanned a couple of weeks or so in January-February of. Put your tone in good hands with the Vox Pathfinder 15R. That 15R gives me the classic VOX tone plus it is LOUD as hell. Now I ain't going to say the 15R is better than the AC30 (although I will say the trem is somehow better in the 15R), but the 15R sure blows away that tube AC4. As long as you do careful marking, you can cut the 10" hole leaving the grille cloth attached at the top of the baffle. More than 3 years ago, I started the thread The next ‘Pathfinder 15R’. I also have the VOX AC30 and the VOX AC4. I had to remove the bell cover on the Weber. It is an easy mod, but you first want to check the depth of the speaker and diameter of the magnet do not foul the chassis. I did this as well, fitting first a WGS Veteran 10 and then a Weber Silver Ten alnico. Mount the new TDA20xx, with proper mica and grease if needed, the screw will probably be insulated with a small nylon nipple.
